John Oates set to release third single from Good Road To Follow on August 13

Oates explains inspiration for “Let’s Drive”

August 6, 2013, Nashville, TN… “Let’s Drive” the third single from John Oates new cross-genre journey, Good Road To Follow, will be released on August 13. A laid-back cruiser written by Oates and produced by Nashville guitarist and producer Tom Bukovac, was inspired by Oates’ son.

“Last summer my son got his drivers permit. It got me to thinking about the fact that I had never written a song about a car, and since I am a recovering gear-head, I got down to it.”

Legendary Blackbird Studios was chosen as the perfect backdrop to record. When selecting the players, Oates asked Tom to put together his A-list band. Those outside of Music City may not be familiar with Bukovac, but you can find him credited on nearly every number one album on the country charts over the last three years.

The stellar musicians included Tom Bukovac on guitar, Danny Dugmore (pedal steel), Tony Lucido (bass), Chris McHugh (drums), Danny Rader (acoustic guitar), Kevin McKendree (keyboards), and rhythm guitar and vocals from Oates, as well as, backgrounds from Wendy Moten.

“Let’s Drive” is the ultimate companion to an end of the summer road trip. On writing the song Oates notes, “As I got into it, I realized that I wasn’t actually writing a song about a car, but more about what you can do in a car…yes, let your imagination run on down the road.” Now that sounds like a Good Road To Follow.
