Years before they were Hall & Oates, the R&B/pop duo, they were just Daryl Hall and John Oates, the roommates. Their friendship dates back to the late-60s, and, yes, they actually shared a Philadelphia apartment or two back in the day.
“(Hall & Oates) wasn’t really official until after 1970, where we really actually said, ‘Hey let’s do something together’ because we’d been disillusioned working with other people,” Oates says. “It was just a friendship that grew into a professional relationship.”
